Coach Sheryl
The Fit Pit changed my life. That may sound trite, but it's true. And I think you'll find that—no matter where you are in your life or your fitness—it will change your life, too.
As a woman in my mid-40s, I am thrilled with how I feel, inside and out. I'm a better wife, daughter and business owner because of my health and wellness. And I'm not just saying that because I run the place—I'm saying that because I'm proof of it. Many of our members are entertained by stories of when I first arrived at The Fit Pit, back before I was a coach or an owner and when I was doing push-ups on my knees, using the assist-band for pull-ups and jumping on our shorter boxes. Over time and after regular workouts, I changed my body—and I changed my life.
Nine months into Fit Pit training, I knew I wanted to coach, so I traveled to Santa Cruz, California, in 2004 to earn a CrossFit certification. Attending the same certification seminar was a group of Marines—further affirmation that this form of training was an excellent choice. I expected the Marines to be fit, but the regular members training at the CrossFit gym impressed me the most! Gender, age, and stature were not limiters. Each athlete was performing at a level that made my jaw drop—proving again this form of training has SO much to offer.
Fit Pit training develops mental fortitude, a bit of “grit,” and let’s face it, that type of inner-strength is needed in the classroom, on the playing field, in the office, and as “life happens.” You cannot build self-confidence more effectively than by committing, and then conquering.
